1 Nephi 4:6 And I was led by the spirit, not knowing beforehand the things which I should do. Nephi had crept towards Laban's house. I think the word crept is interesting but you have to remember that the manner in which they last left the city was by fleeing from Laban's guards. Nephi has to assume that Laban's guards are watching out for him and his brothers and that as he nears Laban's house there is more and more of a chance that he would be sighted by one of Laban's guards.

The reference for 'knowing' was interesting. It pointed to a verse in Hebrews that mentions that Abraham was led to a land that would be his inheritance but he did not know 'whither he was going'.
