Chapter 2:
The wise men are directed to find the Savior by following a star. They tell Herod and then don't return. This causes Herod to worry about his status as king and he murders all of the children under 2 years of age. I feel disgusted as I read this and wonder how I would have felt if I had been there at that time and saw such a thing happen. I can't imagine life without my children. I suppose this should make me that much more grateful that I live where I do when I do.
Chapter 3:
We learn more of John the Baptist and his preaching, of his humility and of his work to prepare the way of the Savior.
Chapter 4:
The Savior fasts for forty days. I know I'm not capable of this, but I am capable of unique sacrifices that will help me to find the spirit and receive direction and revelation. I am grateful to know of my Savior, and his sacrifices, of His relationship with the Father. More than anything else I'm grateful to know of his atoning sacrifice to help me to be able to repent and return to Father.
The temptations of the Savior teach us of the things that satan will tempt us with. I hope that I can recognize these things in my life and prepare against them.
