It gets a little boring to follow the genealogy of the leadership of the Jaredite people. But there do emerge patterns out of what we read. Simply put when there is righteous leadership the people prosper. When there is wicked leadership the people become wicked quickly and those that use wicked practices to gain leadership or power die by that same wickedness and don't end up with what they really wanted.
I was pleased to read about Emer. It says that he saw the Son of Righteousness. Did he see him because of his role as leader of the people? I'm feeling more like it was just a matter of his righteousness and that we all have that same potential if we live righteously to receive that personal visitation as a witness of our relationship with him and that our calling and election can be made sure.
