Alma and Amulek had prophesied that their city would be destroyed and their traditions under the beliefs of Nehor would not allow them to see that these prophecies could be true. What wickedness they had chosen to be so far from the Spirit. I'm sad for them. All the same, they made stupid choices and were destroyed for it, just as was prophesied.
Combined into this chapter is the testimony of Alma and Amulek that Christ will come. Here is another prophecy from them. What's exciting is that we have proof also that this prophecy would also be fulfilled. It is a prophecy that I am sure so many took special comfort in. It is hard to know what they felt but as we think about what it would have meant for different groups to see the Savior, I think we too can feel of that same great desire. Anyone who has felt the joy of forgiveness that comes through repentance will feel that love from Father and Jesus, such that they want to worship Him face to face -- or better yet, face to foot. How they must have rejoiced to know the Savior would visit them. I have more of a testimony of this because I had the opportunity to teach of Thomas' experience where he could see his beloved master again. His response upon seeing him and feeling his marks was "My Lord, My God". What would your response be. I hope mine would be just that, yet confident that I could kneel before him and kiss his feet.
