The Church in the Land of Ishmael - Alma 21

Ammon and Lamoni find their way to Middoni and are able to get Aaron and others released from Prison.  After this they return to the Land of Ishmael and work towards building up the kingdom of God in that land.  I am thinking about Ammon's commitment to this king and his people.  Originally he said he would be with them maybe until the day he died.  Did he ever think when the Lord told him to go and get his brethren released from prison that now he would move on to do other work?  Or was he anxious to get back to this people who had just converted? I know Ammon was always following the Spirit so I'm sure he was happy to do whatever he was prompted to do.

What he was commanded to do, and what I'm sure he thoroughly enjoyed, was returning to this people to see them established as a church.  They were a large group of people, recently converted, who without proper instruction and organization would simply fall away from the church.  Pres. Hinckley said that every convert to the church needs a friend, a calling, and to be nurtured by the good word of God.  I'm sure Ammon was aware that his people had the same needs.
