Order of the Church - Alma 6

People were ordained to be Priests and Teachers by the laying on of hands (v1) to preside and watch over the church.  They were taught to meet together often to fast and to pray, especially for those who knew not God.  They kept those from the church that were antagonistic towards the church, but were liberal with the word of God that all who desired to come to know God could.   These are all elements that allow the church or kingdom of God to exist on the earth.

In our day we should rejoice and be so grateful that due to modern means of communication the church and the regulation of the church are the same all around the world.  We hear the leadership of the church frequently talk of gratitude for satellite transmissions extending the reach of the broadcasts. We also have internet technology which is influencing more and more our record keeping.

In Alma's day he worked hard to get the church's policies, procedures and programs established in Zarahemla, and when there was peace he went to other cities.  I'm sure he was hoping and praying that they would remain faithful while he was traveling elsewhere.   It was no different for the ancient apostles in the Jerusalem.
